What is Gullah Geechee?

The Gullah Geechee people are the descendants of enslaved Africans who settled along the Atlantic Ocean states of North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, and Florida. We have a robust culture showcasing our craftsmanship in basket weaving gorgeous Sweetgrass Baskets, our cuisine is so full of flavor focusing on our staples of rice, locally grown vegetables, and seafood. Then there is our language, the Gullah Language, which is an English-based Creole language which has been passed down over the years and the Geechee language is a dialect the Gullah language.
